The cat/cow pose is where I usually catch my husband Taylor stealing glances at me, but tonight I found his eyes during the meditation part of our yoga class.  We gazed for a while, even though our eyes were supposed to be closed.  He winked and then we were back to our relaxation time.

John, the yoga instructor, finished the meditation portion and excused the class with the usual “namaste” greeting.

“What did you think?” I asked.

“I liked it.  It got a little crazy at points.  I was sweating!”  Taylor said.

I laughed realizing that in the midst of all these tiny girls, my large husband found our workout a little intense.  We left the room and I received another wink and a little spank as we hurried and I giggled out to our car.

It is funny how a relationship can be strengthened simply by exercising together.  Tennis, running a road race together, and a walk in the park can all enable you to get out of the rut of everyday life, do something new and active, and get to know each other in new and exciting venues.

I believe the new benefit of strengthening your relationship through exercise can be summed up in the words of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins, endorphins make you happy, happy people just don’t shoot their husbands.”
